Facade blinds are a modern and reliable solution for glass and aluminum-glass facades, residential buildings, offices, and public spaces. The design of the blinds allows for effective control of sunlight; the shade helps maintain a comfortable indoor temperature, reduces glare, ensures privacy, and improves the building’s energy efficiency.

Advantages of blinds:

  • Aluminum profiles—lightweight, sturdy, and resistant to corrosion and weathering.

  • A wide variety of colors and surface finishes: powder coating according to the RAL color chart, with the option to choose decorative wood or metallic finishes.

  • The ability to adapt blinds to various types of facades—from classic window openings to large glass walls.

  • Options for automatic (motorized) or manual control, as well as integration with smart home systems.

C-80 and Z-90 Slats—Differences, Features, and Applications

UAB Roletas primarily uses two aluminum slat shapes in its facade blinds—C-shaped (“C-80”) and Z-shaped (“Z-90”). Below are their main features and differences.

C-80 facade blinds

  • The slats are made of aluminum sheet with two inward bends (i.e., C-shaped), which provides greater rigidity and good wind resistance.

  • The slats can be tilted 0–180°, allowing for precise control of light levels.

  • Various colors are available (RAL, metallic, wood grain—depending on the paint finish selected).

  • System types can be adapted for windows or facades, depending on the project’s scale and requirements.

Application benefits: The C-80 is a sturdy and versatile slat design, best suited for applications where wind resistance is critical, high structural rigidity is required, and when flexibility in adjusting light intensity is desired (wide angle adjustments).

Z‑90 facade blinds

  • The slats are Z-shaped—their design allows them to “close” very tightly, thus achieving virtually complete blackout.

  • The slats can be tilted between 0° and 90°, allowing for quick and easy adjustment of light transmission.

  • Thanks to the Z-profile design and additional sealing elements (rubber gasket), better airtightness and reduced wind noise are achieved.

  • Installation options: Z-90 blinds can be installed in a cassette (e.g., BOX / surface-mounted installation)—which is particularly convenient for new buildings.

Application benefits: The Z-90 is the ideal choice when you want maximum darkness, privacy, and sun protection—for example, in residential homes, bedrooms, or office spaces with large windows where you want to control lighting and heat.

Color and Finish Options

The range of blind colors and finishes allows for adaptation to various architectural styles:

  • Paint finishes based on the RAL Classic palette (matte, textured, and metallic finishes).

  • The option to choose wood-grain finishes or metallic shades—ideal for both modern and traditional architectural projects.

  • Standard slat colors as shown in the catalog—for both the C-80 and Z-90 versions: for example, silver, gray, brown, ivory, black, anthracite gray, metallic gray, and others.

Therefore, facade blinds can be adapted to the facade structure, roof, window frames, or other facade elements—while maintaining a cohesive visual harmony.

Typical Installation Methods and Systems

Aluprof facade blinds can be installed in various ways, depending on the project:

  • Window opening installation—the traditional method, suitable for renovations or the modernization of existing buildings.

  • Facade installation (cassette / recessed / BOX)—more commonly chosen for new projects; The cassette is mounted on the building’s facade and is often plastered and/or finished, so the blind mechanisms remain hidden.

  • For large glass facades or display walls—both the C-80 and Z-90 systems can be used with aluminum structural systems that are compatible with the facade profiles.

  • Manual or automatic operation—the option to choose between a manual (“crank”/handle) or motorized version of the blinds. The motorized versions are especially recommended for large glass areas, patios, or commercial buildings.

Why choose the C-80 or Z-90—which is best for your project?

Situation / Need Recommended slat shape
You want maximum strength, better wind resistance, and flexible light control (0–180°) C-80 — rigid, reliable, versatile
You’re looking for maximum shading, privacy, and airtightness; you’ll be installing it on a facade or in a cassette Z-90 — Z-shape + sealing + compact package
Versatility in light control is important for the project’s architecture (e.g., offices, homes) Depending on your needs—choose C-80 or Z-90 (or even a combination of both)
You’re building a new structure with large glass walls Z-90 (good shading) or C-80 (if wind and mechanical strength are more important)

In real-world projects, C-80 and Z-90 are often used not as alternatives but as complementary solutions—the choice depends on the window/facade area, orientation, wind load, privacy, and lighting requirements.
